Khecheopalri Lake.
Khecheopalri or often known to be as a wishing lake because people largely visit the lake offering prayers for the fulfillment of a wish or a desire to come true so travelers can make a wish, that shall come true if the water of the lake reflects back with the waves of water along with bubbles as a good sign of responding to your call for the fulfillment of a wish.

a month agoHoly lake and is sacred. The walk to the lake from the main road is about 10 minutes, through a small jungle like path. Is quiet all around and gives a sense of calmness. Near the lake prayer is held at temples. A cave is nearby (15 minutes up trek) and is another tourist destination. Entry fee (Rs 30) is charged. Souvenir shops, cafe and local wine is available outside the lake area. A monastery is also located nearby.

a month agoWhen i had visited this place, I had to wait 10 min. In ticket counter. Huge rush was there. Ticket price was ₹30. When I reached destination after 10 min walk then I did vain hope. Because the bridge that spanned the lake did not exist. So the lake was seen from a distance. You can go hike 10/15 min. For top view of lake that will be better option. Due to rain I couldn't go hike which was bad luck for me.

3 weeks agoThis lake acts as a sanctuary for more than 300 species of plants. And it is so beautiful to look at this.Legend says that if one single leaf falls in the water birds will pick it up immediately to keep the lake clean. It seemed true because I hardly saw any leafs floating in the water. There is a view point you can visit on the hill next to the lake but you have to climb a lot of stairs approximately minimum 450 . Go there if you can you will not regret the climb. There's a inspiration quotes written on a board " Don't Give Up....Just few more steps" 🫠

a month agoOne of the holiest lakes in West Sikkim, this destination is a must-visit. While the roads leading to the lake are narrow, the journey is worth it. Upon entering the gate, a short walk of about two minutes leads to the sacred lake, known as the Wishing Lake. Visitors are encouraged to maintain a quiet atmosphere as many come here for meditation. Along the path, you can light incense, known as “chimi” in the Sikkimese language, and offer prayers. The lake exudes a magical ambiance, and nearby, there’s an option to trek uphill for about 15 minutes to a viewpoint offering stunning scenery. While there are no official guides, locals can provide directions. Though we didn’t venture uphill, locals suggest it’s a worthwhile experience. So, if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to explore further, but remember to respect the serenity of the surroundings.

2 months agoA beautiful lake with greenery and calm environment. Your mind will be fill with a pleasent happiness. Ther have a watch tower at a too high hill area from where you can see the lake completely. You can see a beautiful monestry also....
