About Lake
Kathok Lake in Yuksam west Sikkim is regarded as the soul lake of Kathok Rigdzing Chenpo, one of the three prime
monks who conducted the historical enthroning of the first Chogyal Phuntsog Namgyal of Sikkim at Narbugang, Yuksom in 1642.
He bless this lake in the 17th Century for the purpose of his oracular practices.
Monks perform purification rites every year to retain their purity and religious importance.
Things to remember
- Enter with a valid ticket which will cost Rs 10 each.
- Littering of any wastage and playing loud music are strictly not allowed.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Feeding the fish is strictly prohibited.
- Maintain silence.

a year agoThere is a top view point also. But it is dangerous to reach. Otherwise the lake surrounding is very quiet . I love this place for birds that sound soo clear and natural

2 years agoLove this place 🥰💖🥰 This is first tour of west sikkim and Kathok Lake one of best place I ever see. In this lake three types of fishes available (red, white & black). The beauty of this lake is unmatched from other lake. So why are you waiting, vist this lake as soon as possible. Thank you

a year agoKathok Lake, also named as" Kathok Tsho" by the locals in Yuksom... the oldest capital of Sikkim. This lake is regarded as the soul- lake of Guru Kathok Janzpo, who introduced Buddhism in Yuksom and surrounding places in 1642 AD. This picture perfect small lake, with its pristine beauty is loved by the locals as well as travellers. Various colourful fishes, the crystal clear green water and the prayer flags around the lake, make it a marvel to watch.
