Rabdentse Ruins is located near Pelling, southwest of Pemayangtse Monastery of West Sikkim
The ancient second capital of Sikkim, was shifted by Tensung Namgyal the second Chogyal of Sikkim from Yuksom to Rabdentse later after successfully succeeding his father Phuntsuk Namgyal late in 17th century B.C.
The capital city was destroyed by the invading Gurkha army and only the ruins of the palace and the chortens are seen here now.
This monument has been declared of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The ruins of the palace are made up of two northern and southern wings. The northern wing was the residence of the royal family

a week agoA bit of a walk uphill to reach the old sikkim palace ruins but worth the walk. Place is immaculately maintained and offers a good view of the hill top monastery.

a month agoSerene and peaceful. So this place is basically inside the bird park in pelling. The entry fee is 100 rs. You have to walk 15 to 20 mins to get to the ruins site.. once you reach you will feel the peace and tranquility.

a month agoA great option for a quite walk in the woods. The distance is about 1.7/1.8 Kms, round trip. Entry is common for the bird park as well as ruins. The ruins are of the 2nd capital of Sikkim. The place is at an altitude, which can be approached after a trek of about 15 mins one-way. Great experience, very quite n peaceful way to explore our Culture, history and spiritualism.
