I visited recently (25th Oct 2022) with my wife, because we love mountains and treks/hikes. Dzongu felt a like a place from dreams, something you see only in movies. Dupden ji, his wife and his entire family including his brother Pema ji and children are very jovial and cheerful people. They were great hosts !! Infact everyone we encountered on our way in Sikkim and especially at Dzongu were great. I definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for an off-beat location for 3-4 days. However phone connectivity, electricity supply, medicine and other shops aren't around. So pack wisely beforehand. If you like solitude, nature and her flora-fauna this is the place !! There is a car service between Dzongu and Mangan but it leaves at a specific time otherwise you will need to reserve a car separately and there is no guarantee that you will find one willing to go till Dzongu.

A great place where you can disconnect from the rest of the world and have a peace of mind with a view of snowy mountains on one side and forest mountains on the other. Mr. Dupden and his family are very friendly which in turn will give a very joyous feel from the inside. so finally a nice place to visit and a great opportunity to explore the lepcha tribe traditions.

When we first started to plan for our North Sikkim trip,we had accidentally stumbled upon Mr. Dupden Lepcha's homestay, and we were sceptical about how our experience would be ,considering how remote the location was. Our journey from Mangan to Mr. Dupden's abode was delayed due to carpeting of the roadways that day and maybe that is where the mystery and charm of the journey started. We came to know that we were the only tourists there on arrival and took a quick tour of the property and found out mystery lying in every nook and cranny surrounding the place. The hospitality of Mr. Dupden and his family was emmaculate and they kept no stone unturned in making our stay comfortable as possible. The man himself was quite mysterious, someone who will keep you on your toes, making you second guess if he's joking or seriously saying whatever he's saying. The tranquil, the calmness will put you in a state of Nirvana at night and put you in awe in the morning owing to its beauty. You can visit the primary school taking the road going from the back of the property and hike till Ting Vong Monastery and keep on hiking through the forests and return just in time to see lunch has been served. At night,we were welcomed with the local fermented millet drink CHI and had set up a campfire. If you are a dog lover, you will surely love GHOST,RANI and a whole host of four-legged fur babies. And at night if you decide to sit alone in the lawn or the lounge space,be ready to have your thoughts filled with all kinds of archaic imaginations, that will rival any Hollywood script of any famous suspense story. Go for this place, and let your imagination run wild. Listen to the stories Mr. Dupden has to share with you,and be mesmerised. "There are more things in heaven and earth,Horatio, than are dreamt of,in your philosophy..."
