8 months agoVisited: 25th december, 2023. After a lot of research we booked this homestay although there are hardly any video or review available in internet. Thanks to Mr. Dawa Leptcha and his family for making our 2 days stay a mesmerising one. We stayed as a family, ate, sang together, and it was our pleasure to know the Leptcha culture that people of this area are still carrying. View: This homestay has the best view from the sitting area, bedroom and rooftop. We walked around 2 km up and down but couldn't find a better view. Starting from left Pandim, Kanchenjunga, Simvo and Siniolchu offers a mesmerizing view on a clear day. Rooms: They currently have 2 rooms for guests , one big(can accommodate 6-7people) and one small but accepts a single family/group booking at a time. The smaller room has an attached bathroom, other bathroom is shared and under same rooftop. Unlike other homestay where bathroom is outside of the building.Owners family stays in same building. Food: Food is homely(rice roti dal chiken, eggs etc) , four times a day, quantity more than enough, don't expect any fancy item considering remoteness of the area. They arrange barbeque on request (extra charge). They prepare Leptcha dishes if you are interested. Overall:Go for it, feel the nature, know the culture. There is nothing negetive I could find.

a year agoHOME AWAY FROM HOME. We visited Lingthem, Dzongu on 21st april 2023 and stayed for 3 nights at Zo mal homestay. Surprisingly this homestay became our second home and the family here became just like our own family. The hospitality and warmth of this homestay is unmatchable. If you are tired of the commercialised homestays , this is like a breath of fresh air. Now comes the view , which i already added in the photos section. I can assure you that this homestay offers the best view of Kanchenjunga in the entire Lingthem region. If i talk about the food , i have never tried lepcha dishes before but their preparations made me crave for more . It’s so tasty and so beautifully presented that you will miss it the moment you leave the homestay. Visiting soon and i just can’t wait for it.

a year agoZo-Mal homestay in Dzongu, North Sikkim is a must stay! Best view, homely atmosphere, well maintained rooms with beautiful view, inverter , geyser and most importantly lovely hosts.. Though it was raining but still we enjoyed the view to the fullest. The three brothers of the homestay took care of us very well Tassi ji the elder brother who is also a school teacher cooked delicious food for us, with fresh vegetables from their farm had some good conversation with him, Dawa bhai, the only person i couldn't get a photo with, was the one who coordinated with me over the phone from givingdirections to fetching the permit, he also took leave from his work and took us to the monastery, also told many stories about the place! Overall it was a nice stay! If i would visit again, which we will surely! will stay at Zomal homestay again.. Take care brothers, it was a good experience.. thank you!

2 years agoStayed in Zo-Mal Homestay in Oct 2022, it was a magical experience!! The location of this home stay is the best in the Dzhongu valley. Is at the top and has unobstructed view of surrounding mountains and the valley, and is the best place to see Kanchenjunga ( although we could not see it due to bad weather ). Also one of the oldest monasteries is nearby ( 5-10 mins by drive) The hosts are very hospitable and we had the best experience. Learnt many things about history of Sikkim and the Lepcha tribe. The food was delicious, we had vegetarian meals. The rooms are spacious and has best views right through the window itself. The homestay was very clean. Overall, we could not have asked for more authentic Dzhongu experience. We wanted try a simple home stay, away from the hustles of the city and glad that we decided to stay here. If at all we come back to Sikkim in the future, this is a must visit place for us.

2 years agoSuch a nice home-feeling hospitality. All the family members are very much friendly. Very much educated family. We love you Tashi ji, Dawa ji. They really treat us "Atithi deva vaba". We got variety of tasty traditional foods there (Vej and non-vej). All the rooms are very clean and clear. Last but not the least the views of "the Kanchenchu", the hills, can be enjoyed from the terrace itself and the village which can hardly be found anywhere in India.
