in the last weekOne of the best homestays in the area. Nice rooms with beautiful views, homely food and most importantly it is run by the Limboo Family itself.

a month agoWe had high expectations coming from a beautifully run and welcoming home stay in nearby Darap. Unfortunately, they had forgotten we were coming and the disorganisation continued from there. It was Diwali so it's likely the celebrations hindered some of the experience. It was very noisy at night with the dogs barking despite wearing ear plugs. It lacked that friendly, welcoming vibe and felt somewhat disingenuous.

a month agoStaying at Limboo Homestay in Yuksom was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all my expectations. The moment I stepped onto the property, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, thanks to the wonderful family running the homestay. Their hospitality made me feel like part of their family from the very beginning. The homemade food was a standout feature of my stay. Each meal was thoughtfully prepared, bursting with flavors that showcased local ingredients. The homemade pickles and jams were particularly delightful, adding a unique touch to the dining experience. I looked forward to every meal, and it truly felt like a taste of home. Set against a backdrop of lush greenery, the homestay is a haven for nature lovers. The presence of various animals, including friendly dogs, playful cats, and even ducks, created a joyful ambiance that made my stay even more enjoyable. I was fascinated by the bee house on the property, a testament to the family’s commitment to sustainable living and the environment. What I found most inspiring was the family’s conscious effort to maintain an eco-friendly space. The homestay is constructed with recycled materials, reflecting their dedication to sustainability. It was heartwarming to see the children actively participating in the upkeep of the homestay, showcasing a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. Even without specific sightseeing plans, the serene environment provided ample opportunities to unwind and connect with nature. The nearby forest offered peaceful trails for leisurely walks, enhancing the overall experience of my stay. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Limboo Homestay to anyone visiting Yuksom. It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s a genuine retreat where you can immerse yourself in nature and experience the warmth of a loving family. Whether you’re seeking adventure or tranquility, Limboo Homestay is a perfect choice.

a month agoStaying at Limboo Homestays in Yuksom was one of the highlights of my travels. I had been exploring eastern India solo for over a month, and by the time I reached Sikkim, I was feeling a bit homesick—especially with Diwali approaching. From the moment I arrived, though, I felt right at home. Rani Limboo and her family welcomed me with such warmth that it instantly lifted my spirits. It was more than just a homestay; it was like joining a close-knit family who truly cared about making my experience unforgettable. The property itself is beautiful, set amidst vibrant flowers, a sprawling vegetable garden, and the constant hum of nature. My room was both private and cozy, with views of lush greenery all around. Mornings started with birdsong and a breathtaking view of the mountains, creating an immediate sense of peace. The animals on the property—four sweet dogs, friendly cats, and even ducks and rabbits—added to the homely atmosphere. One of the best parts was the food. Every meal was fresh, organic, and cooked with love. I tasted Sikkimese, Nepali, and Tibetan dishes, from Yak cheese curry to homemade Rhododendron pickle. A special mention goes to the Tongba, a millet-based drink they serve as a sign of respect. Sharing that with the Limboo family felt truly special. Yuksom’s prime location allowed me to easily visit nearby sites like Dubdi Monastery and Kathok Lake. But it was the warmth, kindness, and hospitality of the Limboo family that made this stay so memorable. By the time I left, it felt less like I was saying goodbye to a place, and more like leaving a second home.
