a month agoWhere do I begin with what an incredible experience this was for us. I had contacted Mr. Ganesh almost a month prior to our stay since I was travelling with my Father and he was generous with his time in offering to plan our itinerary, connected me with people from the tourism dept, who further helped plan our Sikkim travel. We started our Sikkim journey with a 2 night stay at Dhungay Homestay and it was the most ideal way to discover Sikkim. Mr. Ganesh constantly kept in touch with us since the moment we landed in Bagdogra, advised us for the journey ahead until the homestay and communicated with our driver patiently to figure out our route. While the road to the homestay was not in it's most ideal condition due to rains, he personally drove down to pick us up a short distance away and even helped us with my Father's luggage while we took a short walk to our stay. They offered us warm cups of perfectly made tea on the rainy evening as we entered and thus began our incredible Sikkim experience. Mr. Ganesh and family are incredible hosts and a perfect mascot for what Sikkim has to offer to it's tourist. We were served fresh meals, cooked lovingly by the entire family and had access to their kitchen to see how it was all made. It would be unfair to not mention his parents, wife and kids who were all polite, courteous and superbly welcoming. We got to savour some of the most wholesome, organic ingredients in meals each day all grown on their farm or on the farms around showing us what incredible communities can offer, something that city folks like us miss out on. The room itself was comfortable, clean and equipped with hot water and everything we needed. It offered great views of the mountains, perfect way to wake up in the mornings. Overall, a 10/10 experience and highly recommend for anyone who is looking for an alternative to hotels.

6 months agoA lovely homestay with beautiful host. Food is lovely and organic. Rooms are big and clean. Short hikes you can do from here. They have own kitchen garden too. The only drawback is the road from Bagdogra, but not too bad. So i will say its a mist stay place, very serene and peaceful.

a year agoAwesome place in an offbeat location. The location is near Bermiok, but not exactly in Bermiok. The Google Maps location is accurate, and you can easily trust it. Now coming to the ambience. It is a traditional Nepali home. The feel you will get is purely traditional Nepali. Excellent rooms. All bamboo made, with wardrobe, tea table and chairs. The balcony is the place you will be all the time, if you are a bit tired after walking around in the beautiful surroundings. We stayed at the balcony till late at night, and it was surreal. It was full of clouds. It was inexplicable actually. We got local rhododendron wine there. They themselves make it. The taste was very nice.
