Location
Rinchen Chholing Monastery is located at Meghidara which is close to the Rinchenpong bazaar of West Sikkim. It is a Buddhist monastery built with modern architecture and techniques.
Locally the monastery is known as Gurung Gompa as the monastery was built by the close association of All Sikkim Gurung community. Inaugurated in the year 2017 by then-Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr. Pawan Chamling.

9 months agoGurung Buddhist Society established Rinchen Choling Monastery in West Sikkim, near Rinchenpong in 1996. He was one of the active innovators of Dharma. The monastery covers up about 600-1000 Buddhist houses in Rinchenpong area. This monastery follows Nyingmapa Sect.

Established in 1996, at a place where Lt. Rising Lama spent some time in meditation, this Gompha is just perfect for achieving 'Bodhi'... attaining ones True Self. This Gompha follows Nyingmapa Sect.

2 years agoSmall but beautiful Monastery. Located at a very attractive place. The view of hills from here is also good. For Bengali, the Rabindra Smriti Van is nearby. Do visit the place. Just climb the stone stairs opposite to the Monastery.

5 years agoWhat a beautiful place this was. It was the first place on my itinerary of kaluk sightseeing. I just loved the ambience of the place. The monastery is no longer used as much as it used to be long back which is evident from the broken doors and latches. But nevertheless it is very lovely place.

5 years agoA small and beautiful monastery in the town of Rinchengpong. It's located beautifully beside the cliff and offers a superb view. The monastery itself is very elegant with very rich and ornate paints. The atmosphere and the surrounding is extremely peaceful. Check out some of the pictures. Definitely visit this if you are in Kaluk or Rinchengpong...
