Barsey Homestay

Few days ago, I,along with my group of friends had gone for a trek to varsey rhododendron sanctuary and had stayed in this homestay. Away from the hustling and bustling of city life, the place was Quiet,Peaceful and beautiful. A great place for weekend getaway. We really enjoyed the tasty food prepared by the host . In the evening we had bonfire along with some soft music.

Nice place to stay, rooms are nice, location is so beautiful ❤️.

Its been long 8 years before we stayed in royal bersey,still they are in my memories great hospitality,homely behaviour,lovely foods, location, weather, everything was simply 10 on 10, nice to see that they have extended their premises,we stayed there for three days, absolutely satisfactory...❤️

Just completed our second visit (December 2023)to the place and the experience was beautiful as last time (during April 2022). The homestay is located around 1.5 km from the Okhrey market and are owned and run by very hospitable hosts Karma ji and his family. Okhrey is considered as a base location by many for the Hilley Barsey trek during the Rhododendron blooming season but Okhrey has definitely more to offer and is beautiful in Winter too. You could spend a couple of days in leisurely walks around the homestay, waking up to chirping of different types of birds, enjoying home cooked meals made from fresh vegetables and meat..you can soak up some sun, make friends with the people of the village, take a hike to the Lamasing trail with a guide. It is such a peaceful and quaint location , you can even hear the sound of falling leaves or the prayer flags fluttering in the wind. On clear nights you can see the Darjeeling hills at an opposite hill, shimmering in the night lights. If you are an artist or writer, you could probably spend a week or two to write your novel or creating your own masterpiece in the quiet ambiance.. or if you are just a city dweller, wanting to get away from the cacophony, this is an ideal getaway for you, reading a book or just gazing into the nature and cleansing your souls. We even had taken our folding cycle this time for riding in the mountains and it was a thrilling experience in itself. Waiting to be back soon. ❤️

It's a best place that I ever seen before... And It's perfect to stay in okhrey.. Their behavior was too good.. Really I miss this place... I wish to visit again...🥰
